A Note About Censorship: The level of censorship on Earth remains appallingly high, and nowhere more so than the USA. As a watcher of gay films you have no doubt noticed that the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) consistently rates gay films unfairly and prejudicially (and does so without providing any transparency or specific guidelines - an easy way for them to rate based on bias rather than logic). The MPAA is a group self-generated by the larger players in the motion picture industry to attempt to avoid oversight and accountability. Anyone who watches gay films and compares them to non-gay films finds that only homophobia accounts for the unjust actions of the MPAA (they do not want you to compare films because it so blatantly reveals their prejudice). Consequently we recommend attending film festivals, ordering films directly (bypassing theaters) from distributors, and watching films on uncensored television channels that use an unbaised ratings system. This goes for ALL films.
We also recommend U.S. citizens lobby Congress and state legislatures to provide laws mandating specific criteria for an impartial transparent ratings system to ensure First Amendment freedom to filmmakers and enforcement of laws banning discrimination based on sexual orientation since the motion picture industry is a commercial enterprise operating in regions with nondiscrimination laws.
It should be noted that the motion picture industy has an infamous history of censorship and discrimination and should be held to the same standards as any other commercial enterprise operating in regions with nondiscrimination laws. Providing a transparent unbiased ratings system is the least that can be done to enforce these laws.
